E&I Presents Annual David H. Lord Cooperative Purchasing Award

April 19, 2018 – E&I Cooperative Services (E&I) has named Carol Barnhill, CPM, CPPO, APO as this year’s winner of the prestigious David H. Lord Cooperative Purchasing Award. The award was presented by former E&I President David Lord at the E&I Stockholders’ Meeting held during the National Association of Educational Purchasing (NAEP) Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL on April 10, 2018.

The David H. Lord Cooperative Purchasing Award, created to honor long-time E&I President David Lord, recognizes a member of the Cooperative who has made exceptional contributions to E&I and its membership through volunteerism in cooperative purchasing. Barnhill, who is the Director, Procurement Services at Arkansas State University – Jonesboro, was selected by her peers for the outstanding part she has played in educational procurement, benefiting the Cooperative community as a whole.

Lord Award each year to a well-deserving member who has shown innovative spirit, impeccable leadership, and unwavering commitment to the procurement profession,” said Tom Fitzgerald, CEO of E&I. “Ms. Barnhill’s contributions to the E&I membership and educational procurement community, especially her encouragement and support of those striving for certification, are well-known in the state of Arkansas. Carol possesses an enthusiasm and professionalism that are simply unmatched. We thank her for her consistent support and utilization of E&I contracts, and we are honored to recognize her with this award.”

Barnhill has spoken regionally and nationally on the benefits of cooperative purchasing and E&I contracts. She has developed new operational procedures to improve functionality and accountability at her institution, and often focuses on improving communication between procurement professionals, individuals, and the state of Arkansas. Barnhill served as the NAEP liaison to the E&I Board of Directors in 2010, and has volunteered as a national and regional member of E&I nominating committees.
