April 16, 2018 – E&I Cooperative Services (E&I) announced five newly appointed members to the Board of Directors during the Cooperative’s Stockholders Meeting held during the National Association of Educational Procurement (NAEP) 97th Annual Meeting on April 9, 2018. The election results come alongside the news that the Board of Directors has appointed Barry Swanson as the new President of the Board, and that former Board member Burr Millsap has been named NAEP Liaison.
Swanson, who was previously the First Vice President of the Board, will be filling in the role held for three terms by Bill Cooper, Associate Vice President & Chief Procurement Officer at the University of California. Swanson currently serves as Chief Procurement Officer at the University of Kentucky, and brings decades of educational procurement knowledge and leadership to his new role within the Board.
“Barry Swanson is not only a trusted leader within educational procurement, but also has a proven track record and a remarkably successful history in the industry,” said Tom Fitzgerald, CEO of E&I. “We are excited to welcome Barry to his new role, and extend our most sincere thanks to Bill Cooper for his years of dedicated service to our members and the E&I family as a whole.”
The Cooperative’s Nominating Committee evaluated candidates for five vacancies on the Board based on strict criteria before selecting those who would appear on the ballot. Newly elected to the Board is Christopher Rust, Director of Purchasing at Connecticut College. Former Board member Burr Millsap, Associate Vice President for Administration & Finance and Chief Purchasing Officer at the University of Oklahoma, has been named NAEP Liaison. The incumbent directors who were reelected to the Board by the members are:
- William M. Elvey, P.E., Senior Vice President, Facilities & Real Estate at Children’s Health System of Texas;
- Kevin Maloney, Director of Strategic Sourcing & PantherExpress System Solutions at the University of Pittsburgh;
- Dr. Judy L. Mitchell, President of Joliet Junior College; and
- Ron Moraski, Director of Procurement Services at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
“The invaluable expertise and industry knowledge that these individuals bring to our Board is fundamentally beneficial to our membership and the services we are able to offer as a Cooperative,” said Fitzgerald. “We look forward to seeing what the future holds under their leadership.”
