E&I Returns a Record $8.7 Million to Members; Announces New Board Directors

2021 Financial and Performance Results Presented During Annual Stockholders’ Meeting

Jericho, N.Y. – E&I Cooperative Services (E&I), the only member-owned, non-profit procurement cooperative focused exclusively on serving education, presented its 2021 financial and performance results during the Cooperative’s annual Stockholders’ Meeting, held during the NAEP Annual Meeting in Grapevine, Texas. Results of its Board of Directors election were also presented.

The following 2021 results were shared:

  • Member purchases exceeded $2.59 billion
  • The Board voted to return $6.4 million to members in the form of patronage refunds, and declared a redemption of Certificates of Equity totaling $2.3 million, for a record total payment to members totaling $8.7 million
  • E&I’s contract portfolio grew to 147 contracts, with over 95% competitively solicited
  • E&I launched eProcurement solutions including its no-cost E&I Marketplace

Roy Anasagasti, CPPO, Assistant Vice President for Procurement and Payment Services at the University of Texas at Austin and this year’s Teller of Ballots, announced the results of the Board of Directors election. E&I members voted three new members to the Board:

  • Loren Malm, VP for Information Technology and CIO, Ball State University
  • Debra D. Matlock, Executive Director, UIC Purchasing and Contract Management, University of Illinois Chicago
  • Nimish Patel, Associate VP Procurement and CPO, Rutgers University

Additionally, the following incumbent directors were re-elected:

  • Jennifer Adling, Chief Procurement Officer, Texas Tech University
  • Bill Dillon, Executive Vice President, NACUBO (Retired)

Barry Swanson, Chief Procurement Officer, University of Kentucky and E&I Board of Directors Chair, announced that his successor as Chair on the Board will be Jennifer Adling. The Cooperative also announced the following winners of its annual Member Awards:

  • Growth in Contract Purchases: Texas Wesleyan University
  • Growth in Contract Utilization: Texas Tech University
  • David H. Lord Cooperative Services Award: Mary Dukakis, Chief Administrative Officer, Operations Division, Tufts University
